Black Wristbands – The Meanings Behind the Bracelets

Many causes and nonprofit organizations use specific colors as part of their branding. For instance, we associate the color pink with breast cancer awareness. You might see these colors on silicone wristbands that are used to draw your attention and make you aware of a cause. While pink is probably the most well-known color associated with a cause, there are others that are less recognizable. Black wristbands, for example, hold many meanings. This article will discuss the various meanings behind black wristbands and how you can design your own silicone bracelets for your cause or organization.

Black Wristband Meanings

Sleep Health

There are many organizations that aim to grow awareness and mindfulness for sleep disorders. For instance, the National Healthy Sleep Awareness Project aims to educate the public on the value of a good night’s sleep and promote improved sleep health.

Gang Prevention

Black wristbands are also used to support organizations that try to prevent youth gang involvement. Through education, training, and employment opportunities, these organizations aim to provide an alternative way of life to the youth most susceptible to joining a gang.

Skin Cancer

Black wristbands are also used to promote skin cancer awareness. For example, Ann’s Hope Foundation uses these black silicone bracelets to raise awareness for melanoma. They host Run and Walk events to raise funds for their cause.

Black Advocacy

Many black advocacy groups, such as Black Lives Matter, use black silicone bracelets to raise funds for their cause. Black wristbands are used both within and outside the black community to show support for the community and to advocate for equal rights and treatment.

Mourning

Black is often the color of mourning and grief. Many people use black wristbands to show that they are grieving by wearing a bracelet that has the name of the person being mourned debossed into the band. The other use is fundraising. For example, if a family has a loved one that dies as a result of an illness, the family may choose to set up a foundation that aims to raise funds. These funds can then be used to support research, help others suffering from the illness, or fund a local scholarship program.

Different Types of Silicone Bracelets

Black wristbands can be used to show support for a number of unique causes. Wristband Resources™ gives you the tools to design a wristband that is unique to your cause. In fact, you can design a great-looking silicone bracelet in just a few simple steps. But first, it is important to understand the different types of silicone bracelets that are available to you.

Debossed

Debossed silicone wristbands are made with a laser engraver or mold. Your design is sunken into the surface of the silicone band and can be felt. On the other hand, embossed wristbands have the design raised from the surface of the wristband. Wristband Resources™ allows you to personalize your bands by choosing your font, text size, and up to four graphics.

Printed

Our printed silicone wristbands are made using silk-screen technology. The way it works is simple. You customize the bracelet to your liking and we print it over the top layer of the band, leaving a smooth, sleek texture.

Ink-Injected

Ink-injected wristbands combine debossing and printing to create a great wristband. First, we engrave your custom design into the wristband before it gets injected with long-lasting ink. This guarantees that your design will be protected from wearing over time.

Color Coated

Color-coated wristbands are two-toned and fully customizable. The customization gets etched into the exterior layer of the band before being filled with ink matching the interior color of the band. This design displays the text more vividly and adds an artistic touch.

Designing Your Own Black Wristbands

Step One: Select Your Type

After reviewing our various silicone bracelet offerings, you probably have an idea of the type of bracelet you want. Go ahead and select it. Next, choose your band size. Chances are, a ½ inch band is what you are looking for as that is by far the most popular size. However, if a bigger design is what you desire, select a larger band size. More power to you!

Step Two: Choose a Band Color

We offer a plethora of different colored bands you can choose from. Due to the nature of this article, I assume you are most interested in our black wristbands. Do note that we offer more than just plain black bands. We also offer black bands that are segmented (and swirled) with other colors. Go ahead and select the colors you would like and the quantities you need.

Step Three: Create Your Design

Now for the fun part! Using our custom configurator, you can play around with the different design ideas you’ve had. You can experiment with different text sizes, and fonts, and even add up to four graphics! Have fun with this, but be sure to double-check your spelling. We can only create the designs we have been given.

Step Four: Finalize

Once you finish creating your amazing design, just select your shipping and production time, approve your design, and add to the cart. You know the rest.
